I just hung up on the fool.
When the calls come in as 'private caller' we are tempted not to answer; however, family members have unlisted numbers which also come up as 'private callers' which leads us to have to answer phone calls.
Women especially need to beware. They are out there and They are trying to scam us all!

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

24x7 pc care - I just experienced a call from this team, 'Allegedly' called Julia and detailing the Manchester number. When I asked how they had obtained an exdirectory telephone number I was advised it came from their 'Research & Development' Team - utter rubbish!

This company uses nothing more than scare tactics to generate business, they should be ashamed of themselves, or better still shut down.

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Yeah, They are still here, likewise i kept him on for the hell of it. Then told him i had to disconnect and plugin my modem. (Fax). then kept asking them for the company address to send my bill to because they broke my computer. Got talking to another guy who eventually told me to get lost in very good english as it happens. Said there based in Manchester... Bit to broad of an indian accent for my liking.

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Just had a call from them. Didn't have anything better to do, so I played along. But for some reason everytime they asked me to go to the login page for the remote access, it went to the google home page. ;) Then I was unable to open IE, as I only used chrome. 30mins later he hung up on me.

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Just had yet another call - (8.5.12) - 'Oh Mam, this is John and I am calling about your computer' - I knew exactly what this was about and told him to shove it where the monkey ................... Do they really think that after about 20 calls someone is going to fall for it? So thick as well as unpleasant.

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Just received a call today!! told they were based in Manchester. I'd heard about these types of companies before so was suspicious. Found it very difficult to understand what the caller was saying, but alarm bells sounded when he said we obviously had a microsoft computer in the house and asked me to turn it on. (! - I might be an IT numpty, but isn't that a software programme?). When asked how he knew this was informed that there is something called the world wide web and they could tell we'd been to unsecure websites and had downloaded something invisible!!! I ended up telling him he must be mistaken as we don't have a computer. Or a phone!!!

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Totally dumbasses. Just keep talking while you read but DON'T GIVE YOUR INFO OUT.

The only thing you can do to stop these people from doing it to others is to simply lead them on and waste their time therefore giving them less chance to make other calls. Its also quite amusing.

Below I have added some of my favorite questions and techniques I love to use on telephone sales people, especially scams and foreign ones that have no reason to call you. Firstly I suggest an awfully long and painful conversation with them as if you are 'lost and confused' with their instructions, its funny hearing them get frustrated. Then out of no where begin to ask them sarcastic questions like 'Does Microsoft make personal calls to all the 15 billion customers they have?' (I don't actually have a clue how many there are but it wouldn't surprise me if it was close to that! Then we move on to more personal questions...to them.1) Keep asking them lots like 'How are you then?', 'What was your name again?' 'How strange so is mine, what a coincidence', 'Where do you work?', 'Whats the weather like in India?', 'Is it nice there?' 'What time do you finish today?'2) Then let them speak for a while by saying 'Sorry what was it you were saying?' Just so they don't just put the phone down on you, this will also make them confused about if you are serious or not - lead them on some more just to waste more time - and then...we move on again.3) Tell them a pointless story about a holiday you had in India and how the food was very hot and so on. This is very funny because they think you're serious and you can be as creative as you like.4) See how long you can continue this for, mine personally was 12 minutes on the 2nd phone call! 6) Tell them your worst joke like 'What did the fisherman say to the card magician? Pick a Cod, any Cod'7) Finally, when you have had enough and after you have wasted their time telling your wonderful stories, tell them you have to go because of some strange reason like taking your pet chicken to Zumba lesson, tell them its been great talking to them and sharply put the phone down. Voila! One perfectly executed phone call wasting of a conman's time yet giving you a little bit of fun in your day. This will also leave them baffled and confused. WARNING: You may get another call back where you can either do the same using your own imaginary questions and ideas or you can firmly but over-politely tell them that you have just sold all the computers, TV's, microwaves, satalite dishes, toasters, mobiles and pop corn making machines away and you do not need their assistance anymore. Thank you please and bonnet de douch (French for 'Shower hat).Enjoy!

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

DONT TRUST THEM. "Kevin Samson" called at 15.10, he sure didn't sound like a Kevin anything, calling from "Manchester City sir..." I joked that it sounded like he was calling from a football club and he started from some script about "Liverpool FC... etc". Anyway when he finally got the message that I was not buying it all (I was meticulously polite) he turned really mean, calling me a m**f**r. It was genuinely funny hearing this Hollywood Gangsta cursing in an Indian accent,I laughed and hung up. He phoned back several times and I warned my Uncle that he will probably phone again. Nasty people, nasty business not good for India thats for sure.

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Hi Alexconnor7

I entirely endorse an event/workshop for your local community - where are you (roughly) ?

Rosemary

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

I had a call from these guys just last night. This guy claimed to be called "Jack Smith" or some random generic name like that. He didn't sound like a Jack Smith, I know that much. When he told me that his server had detected that my computer was hacked I laughed a little bit. I think he was getting upset with me for not falling for it. Anyway, I kept him talking, long enough to do a quick search on the business name where of course I found this article. I thought it might be fun to read this article to him slowly, out loud, word for word. He didn't like that at all, and started yelling at me to shut up, which only spurred me on of course. Then I told him he's a nasty little conman and should go hurl himself off a building, so he told me to f*** off and then hung up on me, which was a real shame because I was really starting to enjoy myself. What really gets me is that I feel powerless in helping others to identify such schemes for what they are. There really are people out there who will fall for this stuff, simply because they're not tech-savvy. Only by making people aware of the signs, what to look for, what to be cautious of can we truly beat these scammers down. It occurs to me that maybe I could organise an event, a workshop or something for my local community, free for all. Something needs to be done, dagnammit!

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

Bob; I was scammed yesterday by this company who threatened to close down my computer if I did not pay to register my Windows Operating System which they claimed was illegal.I stupidly did this.I have had a Tech Guy look at my computer and he stated that they had only run programs already on my computer. The 24sevenpccare co has offered me £30.00 compensation. What would you do ?

Re: 24/7 PC Care Scam

One of my clients has told me that the fraudsters that called her were going to charge her £149 for "lifetime warranty" at which point she (finally) got suspicious and asked for an email detailing this service to discuss with her husband.
